Dollhouse Miniature Strawberry Garden Flag

Watch the video here.

This week we are adding a strawberry-themed garden flag to our dollhouse porch decor. I decided to make this a shaped flag and I am very happy with how it turned out.

Like always we are starting with a strip of plain white, 100% cotton fabric. I use bleached muslin for my flags, you should be able to find this fabric in any fabric store/department especially if they carry any fabrics geared to quilters. For our flag we need a strip that measures 1” by 3”.

The other item we will need to begin is some paper backed fusible web. This is basically a fabric glue that is heat activated and comes on a sheet of paper making it very easy to use. I prefer the Heat 'N Bond brand. There are other brands in stores and you can use whatever brand you can find. I do recommend you pick one that is designed to hold without sewing. Mine is labeled “Ultra-Hold” this way you won't need to worry about your flag coming apart later. You will need a 1” square of the paper-backed fusible web.

Follow the directions on your fusible web product to form your flag.

Now that your flag is ready we need a strawberry shape. I looked up simple line drawings of strawberries online and drew this one. To do this I cut 1” square of paper, folded it in half and drew half a strawberry on it. I then cut out my strawberry shape and used it to trace a simple strawberry on my flag.

I used the drawn line at the bottom of the flag to guide me in cutting the flag to shape. The top drawn line was used to determine the painted shape of the berry.

Once you have your flag cut into the berry shape use a red craft paint to paint the area that is the berry on one side of the flag. Allow to dry and paint the same shape on the other side. I did find it best to use 2 coats of paint on mime.

Once the red paint is completely dry add a stem and some leaves with a green craft paint and small brushes. Take you time with this step.

Once the green is dry use some yellow paint, I used a 3-D fabric paint to paint on the seeds of the strawberry. I used a toothpick to apply the paint, this allows you to get very tiny dots of paint. If you don't have this kind of paint feel free to use any bright yellow craft-paint. Work on one side of the flag allow to dry completely then paint the seeds on the other side.

That's all there is to it, now you have a fun strawberry flag to display on the porch of the dollhouse for summer.

Again this week a big thank you to Plaid for supplying the paint and brushes used in the project.

As always I do want to sincerely thank all of you for watching my videos and reading my blog posts. It means so much to me that you are supporting me in this way. If I could ask you all to do just a bit more by subscribing to the channel and liking the videos and leaving comments. Those help more than you can imagine. Also if you could pass the links on to your friends I would appreciate it so much.
